Hi Ben, since you're discussing maps on this issue I've been wondering recently because of a paper I'm writing: why the discussion of the impact of decisions is so well developed in the cartography area and not so much in dataviz in general? My guess is that the first emerges from politic/war scenarios and the other from computer science for analytic purposes, but I don't know if that explains it.
