Have you heard of Multiple Views? I've shared links to their articles many times, but let me make an introduction: Multiple Views is a Medium publication sharing the latest in data and information visualization research. It's a fantastic resource for diving into summaries of more in-depth research studies, and most articles are free.
This week I really enjoyed one of their pieces on accounting for a reader's prior beliefs when designing with data. Check out the link in the Read section.

How can I engage different audiences using the same chart?
Jiaying Zhao explains some of his research findings in this Medium article. Prior beliefs can play a huge part in how people interpret data visualizations. While researching data on climate change, Zhao found that "drawing attention to specific parts of the graph that are consistent with people’s prior motivations can encourage desired actions".
